Driver Identified After Fatal Crash in Bedford

BEDFORD, N.Y. - The New York State Police have finally made a positive identification of the driver killed in a crash on I-684 earlier this month.

The process was complicated by the operator using what authorities described as a “false alias.”

On Sunday, April 14, at approximately 3:15 p.m., troopers from the Somers barracks were called to the northbound side of I-648 in Bedford, where a 2006 Honda CRV had veered into the median at a high rate of speed before striking a tree and killing the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The initial investigation identified the driver as Jose Perez Rosa, but the driver’s license was later found to be fraudulent. Further investigation revealed that the deceased was Mario B. Goris, 53, of Bronx, NY.
