Interested in designing a beer label that will find its way onto a can served at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts?

Well, the center is hosting its second seasonal beer label design contest in collaboration with Lionheart Coffee Company and Binary Brewing Co.

“Artists and designers in Oregon and Southwest Washington are invited to submit work to be featured on cans of beer that will be available at The Reser during the 2024-2025 season,” said a statement from the Beaverton arts center.

Artists must be 21 years old or older to participate in the contest, with arts center officials encouraging that those who enter their artwork or designs “capture or celebrate the mission and vibrant arts culture of The Reser.”

Applications , found at cityofbeaverton.submittable.com/submit , must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, May 19.

Keep in mind that an application does not mean everyone will be able to participate, as a selection process will follow.

Last year, 29 artists applied, and three winning designs were selected. The Reser officials are hoping for the same amount or more entries for the upcoming contest.

“We have an informational boot camp Zoom happening on May 10, at 2 p.m. where potential artists can get more information and learn about the application process before submitting their files. Anyone interested in attending the zoom can send an email to gallery@thereser.org and request the link,” said Karen De Benedetti, gallery programs manager for The Reser.

Last year’s winners included Harley Talkington’s pastel painting “Beyond Light” for The Reser’s hoppy beer, Carrie Gilbert’s binary coding for We Love Beer & The Arts, which was featured on a light beer offering, and Nate Marcel’s Reser Lights digital drawing, which focused on architectural aspects and landed on the front of a seasonal beer.

Binary Brewing Co. continues to can the distinctive drinks each month at its brewery at 12345 S.W. Broadway, which opened in the fall of 2022 in the former Beaverton Bakery.

So far, Binary Brewing Co. has produced an estimated 100 cases of the custom-labeled beer for The Reser, according to Josh Johnson, Binary Brewing co-owner.

In addition to The Reser, last year’s three beers are available at Binary Brewing Co. and Beaverton’s Lionheart Coffee Company.
