Hartmann faces nation’s best during All Stars weekend, eyes IRA Sycamore-Angell Park twinbill

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 7, 2023 – Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing faced off against many of the top 410 Winged Sprint Car drivers and teams in the country and came away with a full book of notes to implement down the road, during a lucrative Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions – Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car doubleheader weekend of action at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, June 2 and The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 3.

With 33 All Star-IRA Sprint Car competitors checked in at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway on Friday, June 2 for the inaugural Gib Wiser Classic to kick off the All Star-IRA weekend double dip, Hartmann began the night by qualifying 28th with a lap of 17.979 seconds around the “horsepower half mile.”

The Plymouth, Wis. driver lined up eighth and finished eighth in the third eight-lap All Star-IRA heat race. In the 12-lap All Star-IRA B main, Hartmann started eighth and came home eighth to miss out on transferring to the 25-lap A main.

The 87A Hartmann Racing team then returned to its home track – The Plymouth Dirt Track for the second time in 2023 for the $26,000-to-win Rayce Rudeen Foundation event on Saturday, June 3.

The fourth-year Sprint Car competitor qualified 24th in the 41-car field with a lap of 12.195 seconds around the semi-banked third-mile clay oval.

Hartmann started sixth in the second All Star-IRA heat race and fell to seventh on lap two when Jack Vanderboom slipped past. The second-year IRA 410 Sprint Car racer wound up seventh in the race to move on to the B main.

Hartmann started 11th in the 12-lap All Star-IRA B main needing to advance to fourth or better to move on to the Rayce Rudeen Foundation main event. The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award winner used a strong start to move up to ninth on lap 2 before a spin involving Dave Uttech and Sye Lynch allowed Hartmann to restart the race in the seventh spot.

Hartmann moved up to sixth in the running order on lap 3 and maintained the spot over the final nine laps to finish six.

A special provisional starting position in the 35-lap Rayce Rudeen A main was granted to Hartmann, which allowed up to roll off 25th in the prestigious race.

Hartmann ran the first several laps of the main event before falling a lap down to the leaders and pulling into the infield with a 25th place finish.

“We struggled a lot last weekend, but this team will keep digging and working toward better finishes,” Hartmann said.

Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team will return to action with another doubleheader weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car action kicking off with the team’s first visit to Sycamore Speedway in Maple Grove, Ill. on Saturday, June 10 with IRA Lightning Sprints and Badger Midgets also on the card.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m., spectator gates are set to open at 6 p.m. with hot laps and qualifying at 6:30 p.m. and opening ceremonies slated for 7:30 p.m.
