The City of Beaumont parks department approved and made a final decision for the design of Imagination Station at Central Park and playgrounds at Charlton Pollard and Combest Parks.
The plans have to go before city council for approval before arrangements with contractors can be made.
"Once we get the date of the delivery of the Imagination Station, we will demolish the playground and prep the groundwork for the new installation," according to Milton Zachary, Beaumont parks superintendent.
Safety concerns are one reason behind the playground's replacement as kids were getting splinters and other injuries on the equipment.
One parent expressed concerns about the swings at the playground calling the swings rusty and saying "the swings remind me of one of the rides at the fair."
It will take 12 to 13 weeks for the playgrounds to arrive at the parks and 30 to 40 days for installation.
