SACRAMENTO, Calif. - In a season of record breakers, first place finishes, and conference titles, Yasmin Austridge has etched her place as one of the most decorated athletes to ever step foot in Lamar University’s track and field program. Looking to continue her historic season, the London, England resident arrived to the 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA DI Track & Field West Regionals.
Austridge would be among 48 runners in the event and ran across the line 19th with a time of 10:11.99. This concludes Austridge’s season and collegiate career as a member of Big Red.
Arriving to LU in 2022, Austridge has made the most of her time here in two seasons on both the cross country and track & field teams. This past season proved to be the best of her career as she recorded nine top-five finishes, including four first place finishes.
She broke school records in the DMR, 800m, and the 3000S during her tenure, which led to first place finishes. Two of those finishes came in the Southland Conference Outdoor T&F Championships, which got her two first team all-conference honors. The SLC also recognized her performances by awarding her three track athletes of the week. Her efforts in the conference championships were a key contributor to LU’s women’s track and field team earning their first ever conference title.
