    Beardstown man in custody for first-degree murder

    BEARDSTOWN, Ill. (WCIA) — A Cass County man was arrested in connection to first-degree murder, the Illinois State Police announced this week.

    Jean C. Santiago-Nieves, 37 of Beardstown, was immediately taken into custody following the crime.

    Decatur Police announce arrests in 2011 murder investigation

    On May 31, Beardstown Police arrived at a residence near Clay and East 14th Streets. A man was found dead in a nearby car while Santiago-Nieves was on-scene.

    ISP was called to conduct the death investigation. The victim was later identified as 27-year-old Steve Dominguez.

    Santiago-Nieves remains in the Schuyler County Jail pending his first appearance in court.
