Clutch performance after clutch performance was just what the doctor ordered for the West Side boys track & field team at the 2A Fifth District Championships. Several Pirates broke seed and scored big-time team points, and the end result was the program’s first district title since 2021. It was also a good two days for the Lady Pirates, who finished third in a really tough five-team field. The meet came to a conclusion Thursday at Bear Lake High School.
Residents share downtown ideas at town hall meeting
Create more parking stalls. Spruce up dilapidated building facades. Paint more murals. Put in a trolley-car system. These are just a few examples among a plethora of ideas offered by residents at a recent town-hall meeting as administrators attempt to solve a problem that has plagued Tremonton and countless other small cities across America for decades: how do we restore the allure and prosperity of our once-thriving downtown district?

LOGAN — Most Americans live within 10 miles of a Target store. If you live in Logan, it's a different story — the nearest Target is 51 miles away, in Riverdale. Cache Valley residents are in luck, however. Target has announced 39 new storefronts, and one of them is in Logan.
Prep boys soccer: Stangs advance on Crystal golden goal; Cats fall in shootout
The Mustangs are starting to win some close games just in the nick of time, much to the relief of head coach Justin Beus. This was Mountain Crest’s second golden goal of the week as Will Burnett provided the heroics in Tuesday’s 2-1 triumph over visiting Green Canyon in OT.
Prep boys volleyball: Hawks end season with 3 straight wins; Cats edged in consolation bracket
It was a heartbreaking state tournament opener for the Riverhawks, but they refused to let that put a damper on a strong first season as a sanctioned boys volleyball program. Ridgeline made the most of its time in the consolation bracket as it won back-to-back-to-back matches to place sixth at the 4A State Championships, which came to a conclusion Saturday at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center. Indeed, the fourth-seeded Riverhawks bounced back nicely from Friday’s gut wrenching 25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 15-13 round of 16 setback to eventual semifinalist Timpanogos.
Prep boys volleyball: Grizzlies place 3rd in inaugural 4A state tourney
It wasn’t the fairy-tale ending the Grizzlies were hoping for, but it was still a special inaugural season for the Region 11 champions in boys volleyball. Second-seeded Logan could have folded after a heartbreaking five-set loss to No. 3 Pine View in the semifinals of the 4A State Championships, but instead regrouped and swept No. 13 Timpanogos by scores of 25-16, 25-20 in the third-place match on Saturday afternoon at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center. All consolation round matches were modified to a best-of-three format.
