DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Gulf Coast Paddle & Racket Battle held Saturday was a huge success, raising more than $7,800 for the American Heart Association. Many people came out to play — 88 total in men’s and women’s doubles — in support of AHA, but there could only be a few winners.

Coastal Alabama Community College Tennis Teams Shine at ITA Southeast Regionals
The men's and women's tennis teams from Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette have performed well at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships. They played against top teams from South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama at the Sand Mountain Amphitheater and Park in Albertville, Ala. Alabama commit Sterling Dixon Jr. left Spanish Fort’s 8-3 road win over Theodore on Friday night due to injury. Toros coach Chase Smith told AL.com late Friday night that it was a shoulder injury. Sterling Dixon Sr., Dixon’s father, told AL.com the linebacker would likely have an MRI next week. His status for next week’s game against rival Daphne is not known.
