SPRINGFIELD — A 30-year-old Battle Creek woman died Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle on West Dickman Road.

Calhoun County deputies responded to the crash near Barberry Drive just after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Once on scene, police learned the woman was attempting to cross West Dickman when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The victim was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where she later died from her injuries, police said.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash at this time, police said.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the City of Springfield Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance paramedics.
