BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Rain chances for most of the upcoming work week will be “above normal.” Expect another likely chance for showers and t-storms Monday afternoon.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST(WAFB)

One or two storms could be strong with small hail and gusty winds. A pocket or two of heavy rain could also lead to localized nuisance-type flooding. Before the rain arrives we expect another very hot day with highs in the low to mid 90°s.

A slight reduction in afternoon rain chances will occur Tuesday and Wednesday. Afternoon highs will also take a dip into the low 90°s for all. Thursday continues the “wetter” outlook with scattered to numerous afternoon showers and t-storms. Rain amounts over the next 4 days will average less than 1″ for most, but a few localized spots of 2-3″ will be possible.

High pressure will begin to build over the area limiting rain chances as we move into the weekend and much of next week. As this happens, expect another blast of very hot temperatures with a chance of seeing a few upper 90°s by the middle of next week.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST(WAFB)

In the tropics, the remnants of Arlene have reached the Atlantic. Those remnants are not expected to regenerate. Elsewhere the tropics are forecast to be quiet for at least the next 5-7 days.
