The storm never carried much more than wind into Alex Box Stadium, but persistent lightning kept the players off the field for much of Saturday.

With Tulane's matchup with Sam Houston delayed 4-plus hours, LSU's matchup with Oregon State was postponed until 2 p.m. Sunday. The loser of that game will them face the winner of Tulane-Sam Houston at 8 p.m.

The Green Wave trailed 7-2, but had the bases loaded with 2 outs in the 7th inning at the time of the delay. Tigers fans held out hope until about 8:30, when another lightning strike was visible near the stadium and the PA announcer advised fans to seek shelter due to the high volume of lightning in the area.

The reworked schedule for the series guarantees at least one game on Monday to decide the regional winner.

LSU took down Tulane 7-2 in the regional opener behind a dominant complete game from ace Paul Skenes. Oregon State demolished Sam Houston 18-2.
