Baton Rouge man accused of stealing car, arrested in East Feliciana Parish

EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – An 18-year-old from Baton Rouge and another juvenile suspect were arrested in East Feliciana Parish in connection to a stolen car and license plate.

According to the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a crash on Hwy. 957 and saw a man run from a vehicle that had been run off the road and overturned.

When the deputy checked the car, he noticed the ignition switch was removed and the car was hotwired. Other deputies searched the area and took two suspects who had been in the car into custody.

Through an investigation, the sheriff’s office learned the vehicle was stolen from a used car lot in Baton Rouge. They also learned the license plate on the car was stolen from another vehicle.

Jalen Johnson, 18, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, hit-and-run driving, no driver’s license, improper vehicle equipment, careless operation of a motor vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The juvenile was released to his parents and charged with obstructing a police investigation. The sheriff’s office said the Baton Rouge Police Department is expected to charge the suspects with auto theft.
