LSU Coach Kim Mulkey Has Brutally Honest Admission About Facing Caitlin Clark

By Milo Taibi,

With LSU's victory Friday night over Virginia Tech, Kim Mulkey's squad cemented their place in the national championship against Iowa.

Of course, that means the Tigers will have to find a way to stymie Caitlin Clark's offense on Sunday.

Clark has captured the nation's attention, averaging 32.2 points over the course of the NCAA women's tournament and leading the Hawkeyes to their first ever championship game.

Mulkey has acknowledged the daunting challenge that Clark will present. Mulkey, who coached three teams to national championships and appeared in five Final Fours during her tenure at Baylor, placed Caitlin in rarified air.

"I've never seen a player who can do what Caitlin does," Mulkey said.

Mulkey was present last night for Clark's 41-point showing against the South Carolina Gamecocks. By her account, Clark managed to exceed her lofty expectations.

"That’s my first time to see her play in person. And I didn’t get to watch the game because I had to deal with [postgame media]. When I did get out there I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. Gosh, she's special. She's special."

This level of praise from the legendary coach Mulkey just goes to show how abnormally gifted Clark is. Caitlin has been the breakout star of the NCAA Tournament, and deservedly so.
