Briefly cooler, drier before warm temps and rain chances return this weekend

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Cooler than normal temperatures will remain through Thursday morning. Southerly winds will return by Thursday afternoon allowing for a steady warming trend to take place. We’ll go from highs in the upper 60°s today to highs right around 80° tomorrow. The forecast stays mainly dry through Friday.

A weak cold front will try to work its way into the local area over the weekend. The front will trigger scattered mainly morning rain showers Saturday. The front is forecast to stall across the area and eventually fizzle out through the early part of next week. Rain chances will remain in the scattered category through Monday. Don’t cancel any outdoor weekend plans you may have as neither day will be a wash out and we don’t expect severe weather or flooding concerns.

Temperatures will soar into the middle of next week. A record high temperature is likely to be set next Tuesday as the current forecast has a high of 89°. That would break the old record of 87°. Next Tuesday stays dry, but unsettled weather returns to close out the upcoming work/school week.
