The Price Tower Arts Center board voted on March 1 to sell the Price Tower in Bartlesville.
For the center, it was a choice between selling the building or letting it shut down.
On March 15, Bartlesville Art Association Board President Kathleen Rutledge posted a statement about the sale.
According to Rutledge, the tower was sold to a private group.
The group that purchased Price Tower is Copper Tree, Inc., which released an official statement on the buy.
Price Tower Arts Center's board viewed the sale as an opportunity to expand the BAA's vision and impact on the Bartlesville community.
Before the sale, the two associations worked hand in hand since 2017 to celebrate the talent of local artists by promoting, teaching, and exhibiting visual arts.
Rutledge said she hopes the new owners' vision and future plans for the building will create an arts destination.
Copper Tree's vision includes revitalizing the infrastructure and transforming it into a cultural center celebrating art.
"We are truly humbled to be entrusted with this work of artistic genius. Our primary mission is to preserve this icon as it was originally envisioned nearly 70 years ago. Our team is dedicated to making the Price Tower one of the best preserved, safest, and best-known Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in the world. We will work hard every day to ensure the Price Tower becomes a polished gem in our community and serves as a beacon for the arts, science, music, technology, and education for many decades to come," said Cynthia Blanchard, principal of Copper Tree.
At this time, events organized by the BAA at Price Tower will continue as planned.
