North Myrtle Beach developer pushes to end Weldon Boyd's restaurant lease

The son of a prominent North Myrtle Beach real estate developer is seeking to stop the renewal of a lease agreement with a restaurant owner who shot and killed a North Carolina man three years ago. H.G. Worley, son of Harold Worley, a former Horry County councilman and owner of several properties in the North Myrtle Beach area, released a public statement Friday saying that he has asked the family attorney to review a proposed lease arrangement with Weldon Boyd. “I firmly oppose any renewal, extension, or new agreement that would continue the business relationship with the Boyds at Buoys on the Boulevard beyond the current lease’s expiration on December 31, 2026,” H.G. Worley wrote. “My opposition includes any arrangement through another company or family member. I will not participate in arranging or facilitating its continuation.” H.G. Worley said he is speaking for himself and not his father, who owns the property that houses Boyd’s restaurant, Buoys on the Boulevard, 93 South Ocean Blvd. Worley said his father will make his decision based on advice from counsel. Didn't get tickets for Banana Ball in Conway? They're now coming to Myrtle Beach

Banana Ball will make its Myrtle Beach debut at the Pelicans Ballpark next year. The 2027 Banana Ball World Tour will include Myrtle Beach games between the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Indianapolis Clowns on March 18, 19 and 20. Billed as a “fast-paced, fans-first version of baseball,” the Banana Ball Championship is a six-team league best known for the titular Savannah Bananas. The league keeps games moving with rules like banning bunting, limiting games to two hours, counting balls caught by fans as out. Game moments featuring musical numbers, fan interactions, skits and more often go viral. Banana Ball made its first stop in the Grand Strand last March, when the Coconuts took on the Party Animals at Coastal Carolina University’s Brooks Stadium, but the league has never played in Myrtle Beach. Like the Conway games, next year’s Myrtle Beach Banana Ball tickets are only available via lottery. Fans can enter the Banana Ball Ticket Lottery on the league’s website until Oct. 31.
