A former longtime northeast Missouri sheriff has passed away.

Dan Bishop, 82, of Baring, died Wednesday morning.

Bishop served 22 years with the Phoenix, Arizona, Police Department as a detective before returning to Missouri.

He then continued to serve the public for 12 years as the sheriff of Knox County.

Services for Dan Bishop will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Edina, Mo.

The wake will begin on Sunday, June 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by the Rosary and the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 5, at 10 a.m.
