Happy Birthday Walter

Happy Birthday Walter Churchill aka Barry Gutradt! If you have followed this website you know how lucky we are to be able to use Walter's photos!

Walter has donated countless hours chronicling the athletic events of the MDI Trojans and in more recent years the Ellsworth Eagles as well. He just doesn't cover home games as well, as you'll often see him on the road with the teams!

I'm not sure if families realize the hours he puts in. Not only is he taking the photos, then he goes through the hundreds of photos from each event, culling the best. He then processes them, sends some to me and then posts them without a watermark on his own Facebook Page for families to clip, keep and repost.

He's been recognized by teams and MDI High School for his efforts and rightfully so. It's like having your own personal/team photographer with you at all times!

And if you ever visit the Bar Harbor Whale Watch Facebook Page, you'll see his photos as he's the unofficial photographer on their tours.

More so, he's always willing to help a budding photographer offering tips and helpful advice. And even more importantly, he's a great guy, and I'm honored to call him my friend.

So please join me in wishing him a Happy Birthday! We won't say how old he is, but the Bar Harbor Fire Department is on standby in case his cake has as many candles as years!
