As first reported by email by the Quietside Journal, long-time Bar Harbor Town Counilor Jeff Dobbs resigned his seat at the Tuesday, March 7th Town Council meeting. Dobbs' seat expires in 2025.

According to Town Councilor Matthew Hochman, because Councilor Dobbs resigned his seat more than 60 days prior to the municipal election, the Council is required to appoint someone to fill his seat, and that person will fill the seat until the June election. At the election there will be the 3 seats open, that expire in 2026, and Dobbs' seat that will expire in 2025.

Dobbs has been excused from Council meetings since suffering a debilitating illness in November.

Matthew Hochman said of Dobbs "It's been an honor to serve with Jeff, and while I will miss his voice on the Council, I am glad he's taking the time away from the stress to take care of his health and be with his family."

Dobbs has served on various committees and the Council in some shape or form for decades.
