Aaron Ramirez scored four touchdowns and the defense at Coachella Valley High School held its second league opponent without a touchdown in a dominating 52-3 high school football win over Banning on Friday.

The Arabs have now won three Desert Valley League games by a combined score of 154-24.

Coachella Valley (5-0, 3-0 DVL) will travel to Yucca Valley next Friday in a matchup of the only two unbeaten teams in the DVL. The game is unlikely to be as one-sided as Friday's.

Aside from Ramirez, quarterback Derek Calderon threw two touchdown passes, to Mikey Rodriguez and Ernesto Recio, and Ivan Camargo also added a touchdown on the ground. Sophomore linebacker Javi Oliva scored on an interception return for good measure.

Ramirez ran the ball just eight times but racked up 233 yards. He also caught two passes for 38 yards.

Rodriguez finished the game with seven catches for 112 yards. Calderon was 13-of-18 passing for 212 yards.

"There were some mistakes, but we played pretty well," Arabs head coach Bill Johnson said. "We just ran our stuff and in the second half we were preparing for next week."

One play from the game that won't be forgotten anytime soon, Johnson said, was a 99-yard touchdown run by Ramirez, the Arabs' star running back, that the coach believes is a school record.

Johnson said that following an interception, the Arabs were backed up against their own goal line. To move the ball away from the end zone, they ran the ball with Ramirez and he managed to break through into the open field before racing the length of the field almost untouched.

"It was one of the highlights of the game, for sure," Johnson said.

Ramirez, it's worth noting, has now scored 53 touchdowns in his last 14 games, dating back to the start of last season. For his high school career, he's scored 63 touchdowns in 24 varsity games.

For the season, Ramirez has carried the ball 78 times and racked up 1,084 yards and 17 touchdowns. He's averaging 13.9 yards per carry.
