Maine Nightclub/Entertainment Complex Announces Closure

The last few years have been really hard on restaurants, nightclubs, and similar entertainment venues.

First, there was the pandemic, which kept them closed for months.  Then, there were issues with staffing and the cost of the supplies they would need (food, alcohol, etc).

Of course, this problem was not just a Maine problem.  It seems as though these are issues felt by business owners around the country.

Now, it looks as though another nightclub is going to be closing its doors for good.

According to a post on their Facebook page, G-Force Entertainment, located in the Bangor Mall, will close for good on June 12.

For those who are unfamiliar, the business opened its current location about three years ago as Kick-Axe Pub & Club.   While many people saw the business as a nightclub (they did frequently have DJs and bands), it was more than that.

The place featured lazer tag, axe throwing, an arcade, and more.

Over the last few months, the establishment has had a few problems.  One of the most notable was the lack of a needed license to have entertainment.

The owner had considered throwing in the towel at that point but decided to push on after over 800 people signed a petition to keep the business open.

Apparently, they were able to get a provisional license and held a few more shows and club nights, but the momentum just was not there.

So, earlier Wednesday, the owners announced the business would close as of June 12.

The Facebook post says, in part:

We've had some truly amazing days and some absolutely terrible days. We've made so many new friends and heard some of the best live music Maine has to offer. Our family has lost a lot of time together. We've lost sleep, missed holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events. We’ve worked ourselves to the point of exhaustion. We've relized that life is too short. We want to be able to spend time with our kids, visit family and friends, travel, and otherwise enjoy life as we are getting older.
