Two children died on the way to school in Maryland Monday morning, after being hit by a car as they crossed at an intersection.
The elementary-aged kids were hit on their way to class in Riverdale Park, close to the state border with Washington D.C., at around 8:00 a.m.
Local media reported that the children were taken to hospital but later died of their injuries. One local said on X that the intersection of Riverdale Road and Taylor was "infuriating," as drivers did not follow laws and children often dashed out.
Officials told ABC 7 News that the suspected driver was linked to the school the children attended, Riverdale Park Elementary School.
Prince George's County Police Department took over the investigation from Riverdale Park Police shortly after. The Messenger approached PCPD for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
