A recent pair of shootings in Baltimore County has residents concerned about what's ahead for the summer.
Last Friday, two teens shot at each other, both were injured after a verbal altercation.
On Monday a teen was shot in Parksville in the middle of the afternoon. No suspect has been identified in that shooting.
Baltimore County Police told FOX45 they have a plan in place as summer approaches, providing the following statement.
"The Baltimore County Police Department's 2023 Summer Deployment Plan aims to strategically identify significant crime patterns that are specific to summer months in Baltimore County and identify precinct-level tactics that can be proactively engaged as countermeasures to these patterns. Crime during summer months has a particular pattern of occurrence and density that can be measured. Partnerships and joint programs that allow the Department to engage with youth have been identified and are in place. These include the Baltimore County Police Department's Youth Leadership Academy, Cops and Kids Basketball Clinic, and our Cops and Kids Baseball Clinic."
Darren Badillo, Director of the Baltimore County Parent and Student Coalition, agrees that youth should be and must be engaged in activities in order to reduce crime.
However, he also believes that a tougher stance on juvenile crime needs to be taken.
“There are children that will shoot you in the face and go get a hamburger from Mcdonald's like nothing happened," said Badillo.
“If we’re talking about this summer, I just think that Johnny O, our elected officials, the new police chief, we need to be tough on crime," said Badillo.
