The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office confirms 18-year-old Arthur McCaden has been indicted by a grand jury following a deadly armed robbery crime spree.
The teen is accused of committing at least five armed robberies over a nearly two-week period, including an armed robbery that led to the death of T-Mobile employee Fabian Sanchez-Gonzalez, 23, of Baltimore.
FOX45 obtained surveillance video that captured three of the armed robberies.
According to court documents, police say McCaden robbed the T-Mobile store on West 41st Street in Hampden on April 18th.
Then, a week later on April 25, investigators say McCaden robbed two more T-Mobile stores at gunpoint, including one on St. Paul in downtown Baltimore and another on Eastern Avenue in Highlandtown.
The manager of the T-Mobile on St.Paul says the suspect walked into the store, asked if they carried an iPhone and then quickly pulled out a gun, and demanded cash and cell phones.
“I just raised up my hands and said okay, okay, okay,” said the manager.
Surveillance video shows the suspect walking the manager to the register where he takes the cash. But the teen, the manager says, becomes more aggressive when she refuses to go into the back of the store with him for the cell phones.
“He cocked his gun,” described the manager.
He said, “If you’re not coming with me I’m going to shoot you in your head so come with me and I said, I can’t and started running towards the door. Like please, please, please.”
The manager, emotional, says she recalls the suspect suddenly fleeing when he heard the siren of a passing police cruiser.
“I thought he’s going to kill me. But thank God the police van passed by though,” she said.
Hours later police say McCaden then robbed a T-Mobile on Eastern Avenue in Highlandtown.
Surveillance video shows the suspect pointing the gun in an employee’s face, then pressing the weapon against his back as he makes his way to the register.
The video shows the suspect then rob a customer who was also in the store, before fleeing the scene.
Five days later, on April 30th, police in New Jersey say McCaden and his 14-year-old brother robbed a Best Buy at gunpoint.
The Department released surveillance video of the incident, which they say shows McCaden wearing a blue tracksuit.
In court documents, Baltimore Police mention this same outfit after reviewing surveillance footage from yet another armed robbery that occurred later that same day in southeast Baltimore’s Canton community.
Investigators say during this armed robbery McCaden shot and killed one of the T-Mobile store employees, Sanchez-Gonzalez.
The manager of the St. Paul T-Mobile emotional thinking of Sanchez-Gonzalez losing his life, adding she too could have easily shared the same fate.
“My heart goes out to the family and may he rest in peace,” said the manager.
Court documents indicate a detective with the Baltimore County Robbery Unit was one of the individuals who ultimately helped identify McCaden as the suspect in the Canton armed robbery turned homicide.
FOX45 News reached out to Baltimore County Police and asked if McCaden is believed to have been involved in armed robberies or any crime within its jurisdiction.
McCaden remains in custody without bond.
