Saturday morning around 1:45 am, Baltimore Police found a man shot in the lower back, at E. Cross St and Patapsco.

That area is in Federal Hill, one of the hotspots for the city's juvenile curfew.

However, Baltimore Police are not enforcing the curfew or any transportation of juveniles to a connection center.

Instead, Mayor Brandon Scott is enlisting city-employed volunteers to patrol the areas of Fed Hill, Fells Point, and the Inner Harbor.

The latest shooting brings into question if these unarmed and untrained volunteers could be placed into dangerous situations.

Although the shooting in Fed Hill was not juvenile-related, a volunteer could have been in the area when shots rang out.

Residents that live in Fed Hill tell FOX45, the area has become a hot spot for crime.

“It’s kind of the wild west and you’re on your own out here when it’s 3 or 4 in the morning and there’s a lot of other stuff that requires police," said one resident.

FOX45 News reached out to the mayor's office about the number of volunteers that have signed up to enforce the curfew, and what training they have received.

However, so far, his office has not responded.
