Administrators were questioned about the absentee record during a city budget hearing on Thursday.
During questioning, City Councilman Kristerfer Burnett criticized the school's response to the shooting deaths of Edmondson-Westside High School students earlier this year.
Financially, the school district is set to receive $1.5 billion in additional state funds this next fiscal year as part of the state's education reform plan.

The funds will allow the district to hire almost 500 new full-tube staff members.
