The cause of death of a 31-year-old woman found with trauma to her body in Northeast Baltimore on Wednesday, May 24 was determined a homicide, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 7:15 p.m. to a local hospital for a report of an aggravated assault victim.
When officers arrived to the hospital, police said they found the 31-year-old suffering from trauma to her body.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital by the doctors, police said.
Through their preliminary investigation, police learned the woman was involved in a physical altercation in the 3200 block of Shannon Drive.
Police said during the altercation, a man fired a gun into the group, and the bullet struck the woman. Citizens then took the woman to the local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The woman's body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office, police said, where the death was ruled a homicide.
