Police say an Uber driver was assaulted by two unknown suspects during an armed carjacking in Baltimore early on Tuesday morning.
Officials say that officers responded to the 1200 block of West Fayette Street for a carjacking at approximately just after 4:30 a.m.
The victim told officers he was driving westbound on Fayette Street when he was cut off by a silver sedan. Then the two unidentified suspects armed with guns exited the silver sedan, according to police.
Police say the suspects then ordered the victim to exit his vehicle and assaulted him with their fists before jumping into the victim's vehicle and fleeing.
The victim refused medical treatment, according to police.
The search for the suspects continues and police are continuing their investigation.
According to Baltimore Police data, through March 18, 86 people have been carjacked. That's compared to 123 last year, a 30% decrease.
It still means at least one victim has been carjacked every day in the city.
In the Western District, there have been at least seven carjackings this year, an increase from this time last year.
At the end of last year, police announced they had 39 cases of rideshare robberies.
