An elderly woman was killed in a crash after police attempted to stop a vehicle connected to a string of Westminster robberies, police say.

Shortly before midnight, Saturday, March 25, police were alerted that a License Plate Reader had spotted a wanted vehicle near the 1000 block of West North Avenue, according to Baltimore Police Department officials.

Officers immediately attempted to stop the vehicle, which sped off and ultimately crashed in the 5000 block of Roland Avenue.

The 74-year-old front passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was rushed to a nearby hospital in police custody and is expected to survive.

Charges are currently pending for the suspect.
