KATE: IN WEST BALTIMORE LATE THURSDAY MORNING, STEADY STREAM OF DRIVERS FILLING UP AT THE CARROLL MOTOR FUELS GAS STATION ON EDMONSON AVENUE. JUST HOURS AFTER THIS PARKING LOT WAS THE SCENE OF A DEADLY MASS SHOOTING. ACCORDING TO BALTIMORE POLICE. THERE WAS A LARGE CROWD GATHERED IN THIS PARKING LOT JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT, WHEN A VEHICLE FILLED WITH SUSPECTS PULLED IN AND STOPPED. >> MULTIPLE SHOOTERS EXITED THAT VEHICLE AND BEGAN TO SHOOT INDISCRIMINATELY INTO A CROWD OF PEOPLE WHO WERE GATHERED AT THAT LOCATION AND STRUCK SIX INDIVIDUALS. THOSE INDIVIDUALS GOT BACK INTO THAT CAR AND FLED AND MADE THEIR ESCAPE. KATE: ACCORDING TO POLICE, ONE UNIDENTIFIED MAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED AT THE SCENE. FIVE OTHERS, TWO TEENAGE BOYS AND THREE MEN, REMAIN HOSPITALIZED. >> I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. THESE KIDS AREN’T EVEN 20 YEARS OLD NO MORE. POLICE DID SAY. >> OUR DETECTIVES ARE WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK TO LOOK FOR VIDEO, TO LOOK FOR WITNESSES TO GATHER AS MUCH EVIDENCE AS WE CAN, SO THAT SOMETHING CAN POINT TO WHO WE THINK MAY HAVE COMMITTED THIS ACT OR THE INDIVIDUALS WHO COMMITTED THIS VIOLENT HEINOUS ACT. WE NEED TO BRING THEM TO JUSTICE AND WE NEED TO CATCH THEM QUICKLY. Baltimore police are investigating a mass shooting in west Baltimore overnight that left five people wounded and one man dead. According to police, officers were called around midnight Wednesday to the parking lot at the Carroll Motor Fuels gas station in the 2800 block of Edmonson Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert.City police told 11 News there was a large crowd that gathered in the parking lot when a vehicle filled with people pulled in and stopped."Multiple shooters exited that vehicle and began to shoot indiscriminately into a crowd of people who were gathered at that location and struck six individuals," Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said. "Those individuals got back into that car and fled and made their escape."Of six people shot, a man died at the scene. The other victims were taken to hospitals, including two teenage boys and three men."I don't even know what to say. These kids aren't even 20 years old no more. It's sad," said a resident who asked to remain anonymous. "It's a little frightening, but I'm in Baltimore City. This kind of goes all the time. It's something you can expect. It's sad."As of Thursday afternoon, police could not say how many shots were fired, how many shooters there were or the type of vehicle.Investigators said the search for evidence, video surveillance and witnesses continues."It is undetermined who the would-be targeted person or the intended target would have been," Harrison said. "You're shooting indiscriminately into a crowd, that's what's so heinous about this and that's why we need to catch these individuals quickly."Harrison underscored how large the crowd was and how many people witnessed the shooting, asking them to come forward with information.Police are asking anyone with information on this shooting to contact them at 410-396- 2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-LOCKUP.
