Baltimore man sentenced for assault incident in Worcester Co.

1280 Collic

SNOW HILL, Md. – A Baltimore man has been sentenced for an assault incident that happened in West Ocean City last year.

On June 5, 2022, Maryland State Police troopers responded to a convenience store in West Ocean City for a reported assault on a pregnant woman. Further investigation revealed that the victim and suspect, identified as 28-year-old De’Jhuan Collic, had stopped at the convenience store after leaving Ocean City and got into an argument while at the gas pumps. Collic reportedly became irate and began hitting the victim several times in the head and face with a closed fist and started choking her. She tried to run away, but Collic pushed her, causing her to fall into the vehicle’s side mirror. Collic then took the vehicle and fled the area, but was caught a short time later on Route 50 westbound.

Collic pleaded guilty to first degree assault back in November and was sentenced earlier this month to serve 20 years with all but 10 years suspended. He was also placed on 5 years of supervised probation upon released and ordered to submit a DNA sample.
