The Maryland State Police are investigating a crash and the death of a pedestrian on the section of the Baltimore beltway in Anne Arundel County.
Police say 26-year-old Deja Sharvon May of Baltimore was killed. May had a 6-year-old passenger in her vehicle at the time of the crash, according to police. The child was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
The crash happened shortly after 9:20 p.m. on March 18 along the Outer Loop of I-695 in Linthicum Heights.
According to police, May was the driver of a Mazda CX-5 that was in a crash involving three vehicles.
May jumped over the concrete jersey wall onto the Inner Loop of the beltway, according to police. At that point, she was hit by a Ford Explorer. She was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she died. It is not known why May left her vehicle, according to police.
The driver of the explorer, 46-year-old Ivan Dennis Wade of Waldorf, remained at the scene, according to police. He was not injured.
One of the other drivers involved in the three-vehicle crash was taken to St. Agnes Hospital.
