Schools Locked Down In Baltimore County During Police Standoff (Developing)

There will be an increased police presence in parts of Essex on Monday afternoon as officers deal with a reported barricade situation.

The Baltimore County Police Department issued an alert shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Monday, June 5 after officers were called to the area of Thompson Boulevard for an investigation, residents have been advised.

According to police, the standoff led to both Deep Creek Middle School and Sandalwood Elementary School being placed in a lockout status as a precaution. 

Police say that all students are safe. 

More details are expected to be released by the police later on Monday afternoon.
