I-695 crash leaves six people dead in Baltimore County

A crash on I-695 has left six people dead, according to Maryland State Police.

The scene remains active between Security Boulevard and I-70 in Woodlawn.

According to the MDSP, a grey Acura, for reasons unknown, entered a work zone on I-695 and struck multiple construction workers before eventually overturning.

The driver of the Acura has not been identified and was taken to a shock trauma center for treatment.

No victims have been identified at this time.

All lanes on the inner and outer loops were temporarily closed, creating backups for miles, but they're now open.

The State Highway Administration is also trying to free up some traffic by re-timing lights on Liberty Road (MD 26), S. Rolling Road, and Security Boulevard.

Meanwhile Baltimore County Public Schools warned the crash could impact afternoon student drop-offs.

The MTA also reports that all CityLink and LocalLink routes will divert from using 695 until further notice.
