City of Hinton announces funding for Avis Bridge analysis
HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) - The City of Hinton has officially announced funding for the Avis Overhead Bridge analysis. “Thank you to State Senator Jack David Woodrum and the State of West Virginia LEDA funds for providing this vital funding for the Avis Bridge Analysis,” said Mayor Jack Scott. This funding will be used to develop a repair strategy for the bridge in an effort to use it as a pedestrian walkway. Six Southern Regional Jail employees indicted in connection with death of inmate
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Six employees at the Southern Regional Jail in Beckley have been indicted in connection with the assault and death of an inmate in 2022. Mark Holdren, 39; Cory Snyder, 29; Johnathan Walters, 35; Jacob Boothe, 25; and Ashley Toney, 23 were all named in an 18-count federal indictment that was unsealed on Thursday in U.S. District Court. All five correctional officers, as well as a former lieutenant, Chad Lester, 33, were also charged for covering up of the use of unlawful force.
