Graduation 2023: Meet Baldwinsville Christian Academy valedictorian, salutatorian

We asked two of Baldwinsville Christian Academy’s top students interesting questions about themselves and they provided answers that shine a light on their plans for the future and unique personalities.

We hope you enjoy their answers as much as we did.

Valedictorian

Name: April Dygert

Parents: Jeremy and Araceli Dygert

Your plans in the next few years: I will be attending Le Moyne College, majoring in elementary education.

What are your career plans? I hope to become a teacher.

Do you have any advice for underclassmen? Try your best to not procrastinate, ask God for help when you are feeling overwhelmed, and have fun.

What was the highlight of your senior year? My senior trip to Outer Banks or winning championships in volleyball.

Who has inspired you the most and why? My dad. He inspires me to work hard in whatever it is I’m doing while also being kind to those around me.

What do you do to unwind or relax? Either play sports or spend time with my friends and family.

What word or phrase best describes your personality? Driven

What’s the most important or sentimental thing you are taking from home when you leave for college? Photographs

What do you envision your life being like when you are the same age your parents are now? Hopefully, I am happy with wherever I am in life and surrounded by the people I love.

What’s the one thing you learned by the end of your high school career that you wish you knew at the start? That the grades you get or awards you receive don’t determine your worth.

If nothing else, what is the one thing you hope to accomplish in your lifetime? I hope that I create a legacy where people remember me as having a positive impact on their lives.

Salutatorian

Name: Alaina Grey

Parents: Dave and Carolyn Grey

Your plans in the next few years: Earn an engineering degree from Liberty University.

What are your career plans? Mechanical engineering

Do you have any advice for underclassmen? Work hard, be kind and listen to your parents!

What was the highlight of your senior year? All of the memorable and funny moments I’ve had with my classmates.

Who has inspired you the most and why? My dad, because he always helped me take a step back, look at the big picture and focus on what was important. He also motivated me and helped me through tough times. My mom, because she was my biggest cheerleader and the greatest listener in my life.

What do you do to unwind or relax? Usually I relax by spending some alone time either doodling or doing something active.

What word or phrase best describes your personality? Laid back and light-hearted

What’s the most important or sentimental thing you are taking from home when you leave for college? All the pictures I have on my wall of my family and friends.

What do you envision your life being like when you are the same age your parents are now? Living humbly with some crazy kids of my own.

What’s the one thing you learned by the end of your high school career that you wish you knew at the start? You can’t change anyone.

If nothing else, what is the one thing you hope to accomplish in your lifetime? To be known as a loving woman who follows closely to Jesus Christ.
