Vehicle Rollover Crash Off 178 Freeway in Bakersfield Leaves 1 Trapped

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Apr. 23 (KNN) — A female was trapped inside a vehicle after a rollover crash off the 178 Freeway late Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. when a single-vehicle veered off the 178 Freeway and crashed down an embankment in the area of Niles Street and Union Avenue in the city of Bakersfield.

Arriving Bakersfield Fire Department personnel located a female trapped inside a wrecked vehicle and began using hydraulic tools to free the patient.

The patient was immediately transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into the cause of the crash.
