The first fatal accident occurred on Thanksgiving Day around 13 miles east of Wamsutter, which took the life of a 41-year-old Oregon man. The cause of the rollover accident was driving too fast on the snow-covered and icy road. A passenger in the vehicle was injured in that cash.

Four times a year, Rawlins officials honor a specific city employee by recognizing them for their hard work. During the November 21st Rawlins city council meeting, City Manager Tom Sarvey named Utilities Supervisor Mike O’Brien the Employee of the 3rd Quarter. Sarvey said O’Brien quickly rose through the ranks to head the city’s Utilities Department.
