BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – Four people were injured in a crash on Highway 305 at its intersection with Sportsman Club Road Thursday night.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m. A person from one of the vehicles was flown in serious condition to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Bainbridge Island Fire Department Chief Jared Moravec said. Four people were in the other vehicle, and three of them were taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale with minor injuries. The fourth person in that vehicle declined transport.
Moravec said that one of the department's aid units was returning to its station after a transport when its crew witnessed the collision. "They basically narrowly missed being hit, quickly turned around and called for additional resources and rendered aid," he said.
Bainbridge Island Police Chief Joe Clark said that in the incident, a vehicle that had been traveling on Sportsman Club Road drove off the roadway, went through some brush and onto Highway 305 and struck the other vehicle, which was in the turn lane on the highway. Clark said the crash was under investigation to determine if speed and alcohol were involved.
