The Southern Nash softball team wrapped up a perfect regular season (12-0 Big East 2A/3A Conference and 18-0 overall) with an 11-0 victory over Franklinton on Senior Night Thursday night in Bailey.

Seniors Ariel Perry and Addison Brumfield both went 3-for-3 to lead the Ladybird offense. Perry also had three RBI and Brumfield scored two runs on the night.

Kelsey Jones had two hits and Carlee Beckham hit a two-run home run, her sixth of the season, in the first inning to give the Ladybirds an early 2-0 advantage.

Junior Anna Dickinson got the start on the mound and threw a five-inning no hitter while striking out 14 batters.

In the top of the first inning, Dickinson recorded her 500th career strikeout.

Southern will be back in action Tuesday night at home when they host a semifinal game in the conference tournament. As the regular season conference champion, the Ladybirds will receive a bye during the first round.

RMA 9, Parrott 1

Landry Miller was dominant in the circle as the starting pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in Rocky Mount Academy’s 9-1 nonconference victory over Arendell Parrott Academy (1-10) on Thursday. Miller gave up four hits and one run over seven innings while walking two.

The Eagles (11-2 overall) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Gabbi Ams singled, Ellen Feagans grounded out, and Arendell Parrott Academy committed an error as each scored one run.

A walk by Katie Bulluck extended the Eagles lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

A single by Martha Calhoun pushed the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the third inning.

Ellen Feagans (1-for-4) and Ams (2-for-4) each drove in two runs for the Eagles.

Landry Miller went 3-for-4. Calhoun and Cameron MacDonald had one RBI each for RMA.

The Gryphons finished 0-12 in the league and 0-19 overall.

Roanoke Rapids 6 Nash Central 4

Nash Central built an early 2-0 lead but Roanoke Rapids rallied with six runs combined in the third through fifth frames and eventually defeated the Bulldogs in the Big East 2A/3A Conference regular-season finale on Thursday night.

The Yellow Jackets sealed second place in the conference (10-2) and improved to 13-2 overall, while the Bulldogs fell to third place (8-4) in league play and 12-5 overall.

FCS 4, Harrells 3

Faith Christian erased a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and then scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth inning on its way to a Carolina Independent Conference victory over the Crusaders on Senior Night Thursday night.

The Patriots improved to 3-2 in the CIC and 10-5 overall. Harrells fell to 1-5 in conference play and 6-10 overall.

Martin County 21 Tarboro 0

Tarboro finished the regular season 0-10 in the Four Rivers 1A Conference and 1-14 overall with a league loss on the road at Martin County on Thursday night.

Martin County (9-1 FRC, 20-1 overall) scored 11 runs in the first inning and 10 in the second.

Tarboro’s lone win came over Rocky Mount Prep on April 12.

NWH 32 North Edgecombe 13

Scoring 13 runs is enough to win a lot of games for many softball teams, but not when the opponent racks up 32.

North Edgecombe (0-7 in the Tar Roanoke 1A Conference and 0-7 overall) fell to Northwest Halifax (5-1, 5-1) by that score in a league contest on Thursday.
