PITTSBURGH — Nominations are out for this year's Gene Kelly Awards, a celebration of high school musicals and their incredible student performers. Among the shows being recognized is the Woodland Hills pilot production of "Wonderland," a grown-up version of "Alice in Wonderland." It scored multiple nominations, including Best Musical, Best Vocal Ensemble and Best Dance Ensemble.

Upgrades for Leetsdale's Kohlmeyer Park proposed at community meeting
Leetsdale residents recently weighed in on what they want to see at Kohlmeyer Park. About 25 folks attended a community meeting at the borough building on April 28. “We discussed the current use of the park, desired updates, and the residents’ current concerns,” council president Maria Napolitano said. “Attendees examined the park map and picked their priorities for playground equipment.”

Several homes damaged in West Virginia after tornado moves through Pittsburgh area
FAIRHAVEN, W.Va (KDKA) -- Several homes were damaged overnight after a tornado moved through eastern Ohio, the West Virginia panhandle, and parts of the Pittsburgh area.In the area of Sheperds Valley Road in Fairhaven, West Virginia, at least three homes were damaged. "It blew my mother-in-law's trailer off the blocks, it blew this one off the blocks, destroyed that one down there, it's completely gone," said William Hart. "It had to be a tornado."Significant damage was also found nearby along International Road where a house had part of its roof ripped off during the storm. People who live in the area spoke to KDKA and say that it sounded like a freight train as the storm moved through the area. Crews are out working in the area to try and clean up the damage. The National Weather Service said that that radar-confirmed tornado moved through Irondale, Ohio and Fairhaven, West Virginia around 1 a.m. as the storms traveled across the region.The National Weather Service says they expect at least one crew to be out surveying damage later today. PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - No release, no alternative. That's the order from an Allegheny County judge when it comes to a suspected drug trafficker who had previously missed a court date. Yan Cepeda is accused of having more than a million dollars worth of cocaine and suspected fentanyl with him when he was arrested in Downtown Pittsburgh last fall. He was arrested on Aug. 31 in Pittsburgh following a trip from New York. Newborn babies at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital wore homemade floral hats and special onesies to celebrate spring and Mother's Day. The newborn babies arrived just in time for Mother's Day. The babies wore colorful onesies and yellow floral hats that were handmade by UPMC Magee nurse Caitlin Pechin and other volunteers. The babies will be celebrating their first Mother's Day on Sunday. UPMC says the babies are "blooming" at Magee-Womens Hospital.
