Food Review: Pueblo Lindo Queso Fresco from Aldi

    2024-07-08

I love Queso Fresco cheese. It's great on all kinds of Mexican dishes, such as enchiladas, refried beans, and a personal favorite, Mexican street corn.

If you're not familiar with Queso Fresco, it's a mild, soft, fresh cheese that crumbles easily with a slightly tangy flavor. It's readily available in most grocery stores including Aldi.

At Aldi, you'll find the Pueblo Lindo brand, the store's private label producing all kinds of Hispanic foods, such as tortillas, masa, chips, a variety of beans (canned and dry), Queso Fresco, and more.

They make a pretty darn good Queso Fresco. It's great as a stuffing or a topping, providing a nice balance to spicy dishes, and delivering a break from the heat, adding a slightly salty, tangy, almost milky flavor to a dish.

With an online price of $2.95 (remember, the Aldi in-store price is cheaper than that) for a 10-ounce package, I'm giving Pueblo Lindo Queso Fresco cheese 4 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap Stars. It's a high-quality cheese at a very reasonable price, making it repeat-buy worthy. It's a staple in my fridge. Compare that to name brand Cacique Ranchero Queso Fresco, also a 10-ounce package, priced at $3.68 at the mainstream grocery store.

Tip: Queso Fresco is also a great substitute for Feta Cheese, fantastic crumbled on salads or used in any recipe calling for Feta.

The Aldi visited for this shop is located at 8011 E Kellogg Dr, Wichita, KS 67207. The store was clean and well-stocked, employees were knowledgeable and friendly, providing service with a smile.

    $pend Wisely My Friends...
