Today, September 18, honors one of the greatest culinary creations ever created, the Cheeseburger!. Wichita is home to some great burger joints, here's the Bachelor on the Cheap Top 5 Burger Joint List, all local establishments for a fantastic burger experience.

Wendy's introduced a new breakfast item about seven months ago, a breakfast burrito with a Baconator mindset... The new menu item features two eggs, SIX strips of bacon, breakfast potatoes, two slices of American cheese, and Swiss cheese sauce, all rolled into a warm tortilla.

I think I'm addicted to these things. This is the third time I've had these since they were introduced on June 28 as part of Sonic's $1.99 menu. Coming in two varieties, here are the descriptions from the Sonic Website:

Bachelor on the Cheap Update - 07/30/2024: Po Boy Pizza posted the following on the restaurant's Facebook Page earlier today:. We will be changing our closing date from August 6th to tomorrow July 31st so come get some pizza rolls while supplies last!

A local burger joint with four locations in the Wichita Metro, Bionic Burger used to be a solid choice for a sandwich, a side, and a drink. Keywords, "used to be." As recently as 2022, Bionic Burger scored a respectable 51 out of a possible 63 points on the Bachelor on the Cheap Burger Challenge scorecard, earning 4 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars and deeming it satisfying, wallet-friendly, and repeat visit worthy. That it's a local establishment, adds to a repeat visit preference.

Checking off another restaurant on a list of "restaurants to try," my girlfriend Jennifer and I had dinner at Tuptim Thai on a Friday Night Date Night. Nestled in the Shops at Tallgrass Shopping Mall at Rock & 21st (adjacent to Best Buy, and Verizon), we met up at 5:30 pm and all the great things we had heard about the place were true.

Subway recently introduced Dippers to the menu (June 18), I've wanted to try them since the debut, and today, I went for it. A toasted wrap, Dippers are rolled in two 6" pieces of Lavash style flatbread. There are three options with the Dippers:

I love Queso Fresco cheese. It's great on all kinds of Mexican dishes, such as enchiladas, refried beans, and a personal favorite, Mexican street corn. If you're not familiar with Queso Fresco, it's a mild, soft, fresh cheese that crumbles easily with a slightly tangy flavor. It's readily available in most grocery stores including Aldi.

What do you do coming off a 10-day vacation out west, when the fridge and pantry at the house are bare?. You go grocery shopping and hit the Sonic on the way home. Sonic introduced a new menu item back in May, the Cheesy Bacon SONIC Stack, which I had been wanting to try, and here was an opportunity to do just that.

It was both dinner and a show on a Saturday night date night. Neither my girlfriend Jennifer nor I had been to the UMI Japanese Steakhouse since it opened in November 2023 in the former Sumo by Nambara spot at 13th and Greenwich. Watching the skilled maneuvers of a chef preparing the food at the table sounded nice, and so did a tasty surf and turf dinner.

The definition of "Road Trip" is almost (key word, almost) inherently about free-wheelingit, winging it to use an airplane term, pretty much improvising as you go.
