Fedora 37 Native Kernel vs. XanMod vs. Zen+ Benchmarks
I've been having a lot of fun recently building custom kernels on a fresh install of Fedora 37 and decided to see how two of the current leaders - XanMod and Zen+, stacked up against Fedora's native kernel. Want to say thanks for an ad-free, subscription free experience and top-notch...
How to Custom Build Zen+ Kernel on Fedora 37
Unless you enjoy having sudo at the front of every single command you use in this guide, I'd recommend elevating your permisisons for the session to skip the redundancy. Say Hello to Sigma’s New 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art
The new 85mm DG DN Art looks poised to be the new champion of 85mm lenses. Sigma just announced their all new 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens, and unlike the previous HSN iteration, this one is designed exclusively for mirrorless camera systems and optimized for both contrast and phase detect autofocus. Of specs and initial reviews are any judge, we may very well have the new king of 85mm lenses in our midst!
Viltrox Lens Roadmap with Lineup for 2020 and 2021 Leaked
It's official, Ayrn has just posted a Viltrox lens roadmap taking us all the way through 2020 into 2021 and it looks like Viltrox will release between 7 and 11 excutubg new lenses this year! Among them is a manual focus S 20mm T2.0, presumably geared towards film makers, an upgraded MII version of their 85mm f/1.8 lens for Sony full-frame e-mount. After that, expect to see three all new autofocus offerings in the form of a 23mm f/1.4,33mm f/1.4, and 56mm f/1.4. These lensese are supposed to be released for Sony, Fuji, and Leica systems and will be followed by 3 T1.5 manual focus counterparts for the same mounts, but apparently geared towards film makers. Then, in the fall, we're looking at three offerings for full-frame sensor cameras in the format of 24mm f/1.8, 35mm f/1.8, and 50mm f/1.8 prime offerings. In 2021, Viltrox will go wide with their offerings as they're slated to release a 13mm f/1.4 for APS-C and a 16mm full frame wide angle lens, both with AutoFocus (AF).
Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 II Release
Ayrn was among the first to do a hands on review of the all new Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 II lens for Sony full frame e-mount cameras and their findings look uber exciting! Among other things, it appears users can anticipate faster autofocus, lighter lens construction, and more professional petal style lens hood modeled after the Japanese lotus flower. More inpressive still, the new lens looks like it will ship for the same ludicrously low price as it's predecessor, the 85mm f/1.8, MI.
