One more Colorado restaurant is celebrating Monday after earning a Michelin star — the much-craved industry status symbol.

Why it matters: The awards recognize the best restaurants in the world and establish Colorado as a culinary destination.

    • The state now boasts six Michelin Star restaurants.

Driving the news: Denver's Alma Fonda Fina is the new addition to Colorado's Michelin Guide. The Mexican restaurant specializes in food from chef Johnny Curiel's upbringing in Guadalajara.

    • Michelin also added Chinese restaurant MAKfam to its Bib Gourmand list, which recognizes eateries with great food at a great value.

The big picture: The guide now recognizes 46 restaurants in Denver and mountain communities that offered incentives to be considered.

Flashback: In 2023, the first year the guide came to Colorado, five restaurants won the top nod.

    • The restaurants that received Michelin stars in 2023 were Beckon, Brutø and The Wolf's Tailor in Denver, as well as Bosq in Aspen, and Frasca in Boulder.
    • Eight others were named Bib Gourmand picks at the time.

Zoom in: This year, Michelin added four special awards.

    • Exceptional cocktails award: Jessenia Sanabria at Sweet Basil in Vail
    • Sommelier award: Chris Dunaway at Element 47 in Aspen
    • Outstanding service award: Allison Anderson at Beckon in Denver
    • Young chef award: Johnny Curiel at Alma Fonda Fina in Denver
