At this point of the offseason, Texas basketball and head coach Rodney Terry are seeking just one more key piece to round out the frontcourt rotation on the projected roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Texas has already assembled an impressive haul from the NCAA Transfer Portal this spring, including more than a few immediate impact players to fill out the guard and forward rotations.

Other portal options worth exploring for Texas basketball

The last piece Terry and the Longhorns staff needs to round out this rotation entering their inaugural season in the SEC in 2024-25 is a quality low-post player. Texas needs a big man who can shore up the frontcourt unit with the final scholarship spot on the roster.

The top target for the Longhorns among big men in the portal late this spring is former New Mexico Lobos true freshman standout power forward JT Toppin. Texas looks to be the frontrunner for the reigning Mountain West Newcomer of the Year, with the Texas Tech Red Raiders still very much in the running in this portal recruitment.

With the portal options dwindling down for the Longhorns, and the spring window closing a few weeks ago, Terry and staff must find their answer to fill out the frontcourt in the not-too-distant future.

Where could the Longhorns look elsewhere, though, to find other potential options among big men in the portal late this spring? Here are two last-minute transfers the Longhorns could target in the portal.
