AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) Dive Team has recovered the body of a man who went missing in Lake Travis Wednesday night.

Just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, the TCSO responded to a call to assist Austin-Travis County EMS on a call near Starnes Island in Lake Travis, where witnesses claimed to have seen a man approximately in his 30s in the water who didn't resurface.

The area where the man was last seen was searched by EMS, Lake Travis Fire & Rescue, Jonestown PD and TCSO Lake Patrol. After failing to locate the man, the rescue became a recovery mission.

TCSO continued the search until nightfall, while shoreline and surface searches began at daylight Thursday morning.

Eventually, the TCSO Dive Team was able to recover the man's body at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The identity of the man will be released after an autopsy has been conducted and his family has been notified.
