CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Following a scary moment at Mark Light Field, Texas catcher Garret Guillemette has returned to the field.

During the third inning of a regional game between Texas and Miami, Guillemette was drilled in the head by a Karson Ligon pitch. Guillemette immediately dropped to the ground and was quickly tended to by the Texas training staff and UT coach David Pierce. After pleading his case to remain in the game, Guillemette eventually jogged to first base.

But after Miami made a pitching change, Guillemette was replaced by a pinch runner. He was then evaluated by the Texas medical team for a concussion and allowed to return to the game after he was cleared.

The NCAA rulebook permits a player being evaluated for a concussion to re-enter a game he was removed from after getting clearance from a medical staff. Jayden Duplantier, who pinch-ran for Guillemette and later scored, can also re-enter the game but only in Guillemette's spot in the batting order.

After four innings, Texas holds a 4-1 lead.
