"Hold up my dentist I've seen for 18 years?! What in the world," wrote a patient on Facebook, after hearing the news that 45-year old James Craig, a dentist at Summerbrook Dental Group in Aurora, had been arrested for fatally poisoning his wife.

Craig was arrested over the weekend on a first degree murder charge, after his wife was taken to the hospital last Wednesday - by her husband - after complaining of headaches and dizziness. Not long after she was admitted, her condition got much, much worse. She was admitted to the ICU and put on a ventilator, before ultimately being declared medically brain dead.

Homicide detectives sprung into action due to the suspicious circumstances and ultimately determined that she was poisoned. It's not clear - or at least not been released - how exactly she was poisoned or with what, but police quickly came to the conclusions that her husband was responsible.

Aurora police Division Chief Mark Hildebrand said in a news release, "It was quickly discovered this was in fact a heinous, complex and calculated murder. I am very proud of our Major Crimes Homicide Unit’s hard work in solving this case and pursuing justice for the victim.”

The victim was taken off life support Sunday morning. Craig was arrested shortly after.

One of the sadder elements of the entire ordeal is that the couple - the dentist and his wife - have six kids, according to Craig's bio on the dental practice's website.

Craig is set to appear in court Monday morning in Arapahoe County.
