2nd suspect sought in Murder investigation of Jamilla Smith surrenders to investigators

UPDATE, 04/19/2024, 3:12 P.M. – According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Bryan Alexander Hampton, Jr., the second suspect wanted in the disappearance of Jamilla Smith, has turned himself in.

Authorities say Hampton surrendered to Aiken County Investigators and has been charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder.

According to ACSO, the charge stems from the investigation into the disappearance of Jamilla Smith and is the second suspect to be arrested in relation to this investigation.

Authorities state that Hampton is currently being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in locating another Murder suspect in the Jamilla Smith investigation.

35-year-old Bryan Alexander Hampton Jr. of Augusta, is wanted for Accessory after the fact to Murder.

He’s described as is Black male, approximately 6’2” tall, 160 lbs., black hair and brown eyes.

Hampton does have ties to Augusta, GA and Aiken County.

Jamilla Smith Disappearance Investigation Timeline:

On December 23rd, 2023, Daniel Gabriel Harmon (34) was served an arrest warrant, charging him with Murder.

He was taken into custody on December 5, 2023 in the 400 block of Carpentersville Road for an outstanding arrest warrant, charging him with Domestic Violence 2nd Degree.

Harmon was later charged with Kidnapping in relation to the disappearance of Smith.
